VDT - VIRTUALETTE DESKTOP PERIPHERAL BOARD
This development tool enables more interfaces to be connected to Virtualette V1, such as UART, digital audio (I2S), SPDIF, JTAG, LVDS video, backlight, touch screen, infra-red, reset, UBOOT and analog audio in/out.
CBII - CARTE BLANCHE II FPGA DEVICE
Virtualette V1's application standard specific outputs are interfaced directly to XILINX 400AN FPGA logic in CBII.
Virtualette V1 supports several video interfaces available in a combination of HDMI/DVI, CVBS, YPbPr, VGA, RGB, LVDS, LCD, 24bit bus and SPI-based display interfaces. Some interfaces are native, others require a physical board to suit the industry standard connectors.
All interfaces can be customised for various modes of operation and configurations using a slimline add-on video adaptor as desired.
We have designed 3 peripheral boards (see right) to connect to Virtualette: VVGA1, VVGA2 and VHDMI.
Using the VDHMI and VVGA1 boards connected together onto the end of Virtualette, it is possible to run a dual head display with two screens operating simultaneously (see below).

Virtualette V1's video capabilities are dictated by the Allwinner A20's SoC. We have made available most of these options which are configured as a simple plug-on board, giving the desired video functionality. HDMI or DVI can be used natively with a standard cable.
LVDS is interfaced via a flat flex ribbon and supports up to two 24bit LVDS channels. This interface would typically have a video adaptor board to suit one of the many standards of LVDS interfaces on various LCD displays.
VGA is available via an analog AV mini HDMI connector that allows standard VGA, VGA with audio, YPbPr, or composite CVBS interfaces to be added to Virtualette. An adaptor board allows the desired physical interface to be made available to Virtualette, making for simple interface to the desired display.
24BIT/RGB a Brooktree-style interface is available from the LVDS connector. This interface can be configured as a standard LVCMOS 3.3v 24bit + HV + DE interface to suit various LCD displays and video convertor products. Additional bits are available for backlight control.
SPI Virtualette supports various SPI interfaces which may be used to connect to ILITEK-style SPI display devices (such as the ILI9341) allowing small micro-style LCD displays to be used.
